埃及博物館A Visit to the Egyptian Museum

A Visit to the Egyptian Museum
Visiting the Egyptian Museum(埃及博物館)in Cairo(開羅)was like stepping through a doorway into one of the world’s oldest civilizations. The moment I entered the museum, I felt surrounded by thousands of years of history. The statues, coffins, jewellery, and everyday objects were not merely ancient exhibits; they seemed to carry the voices and memories of people who had lived along the Nile River(尼羅河)long ago.

I was especially impressed by the treasures of Tutankhamun(圖坦卡門). His magnificent golden mask(黃金面具), decorated with deep blue and gold, was both mysterious and breathtaking. It revealed not only the wealth of the young pharaoh(法老), but also the extraordinary skill of ancient Egyptian craftsmen.

The mummies(木乃伊)left an even deeper impression on me. Standing before them, I realized that the ancient Egyptians had devoted enormous care to preparing for the afterlife. They believed that death was not the end, but the beginning of another journey. Their burial customs, coffins(棺木), amulets(護身符), and Book of the Dead(《亡靈書》)all reflected their hope for eternal life.

The statues of the pharaohs appeared solemn and powerful, while the sculptures and paintings of ordinary people showed another side of Egyptian life—farming, fishing, writing, worshipping the gods, and enjoying family life. Through these objects, I could imagine how people lived beside the Nile, whose waters nourished the land and made this great civilization possible.

I was also fascinated by hieroglyphs(象形文字). Although I could not understand them, the carved symbols looked like a combination of language, history, and art. Every bird, eye, human figure, and sacred animal seemed to hold a hidden meaning.

My visit to the Egyptian Museum was more than a sightseeing experience. It was a quiet conversation with the distant past. I left the museum with admiration for the wisdom imagination, religious faith, and artistic achievementsof ancient Egypt.

Even after thousands of years, the civilization of ancient Egypt(古埃及文明)continues to inspire wonder. Its people may have disappeared into history, but their stories still live on through the treasures they left behind.
